"QUEEN BEE" TAKES OVER LEAD IN ORANGE BOWL'S GIRLS' EVENT

 In-Bee
Park, pictured right, the Korean-born player who won the United States'
girls championship at the age of 14 earlier this year, has taken up a
one-stroke lead with one round to go in the girls' section of the Orange
Bowl international junior golf championship at Biltmore Golf Club, Coral
Gables in Florida.
Florida-based In-Bee - it means "Good Queen" in Korean - shot
a third-round 68, four under the par for the women's course, to move to
the top of the leaderboard on three-under-par 213.
She leads by one shot from another Korean player Sujung Yoon, who has
not yet moved to the United States as In-Bee did last year with her family,
and by three strokes from Elisa Serramia (Spain).
 Paula
Creamer, left, from California, who represented the United States in the
R&A Junior Open at Royal Musselburgh last July, had gone clear of
the field on the first day with a brilliant round of 65, seven under par
for the girls' course, despite the onset of influenza.
Unfortunately for Paula, who had won the previous week's Doral-Publix
Junior Classic's girls' title by a big margin, her condition worsened
overnight and she was confined to bed while the second and third rounds
were being played.
There were no Great Britain & Ireland entries to the girls' section,
which seems a pity for an event that is one of the leading Under-18 tournaments
on the world junior golf calendar.
 In
the boys' section, Edinburgh-born Rhys Davies, pictured right, , the Welsh
international player from Bridgend, who was beaten at the 37th hole of
this year's British boys championship final at Carnoustie, lost his top-10
position with a 74 for 216.
Rhys, a member at Royal Porthcawl, was born when his father, a Welsh table
tennis international player, was working in Edinburgh for the Scottish
Sports Council.
England international Matthew Richardson from Middlesex is in joint 10th
place with 18 holes to play on Monday.
Richardson, a member of the Pinner Hill club, has been nothing if not
consistent in this event, one of the leading under-18 tournaments on the
world junior golf calendar. He matched the par of 71 on the first two
days and had a 72 in the third round for a creditable tally of one-over
214.
He is six strokes behind the third new leader of the 72-hole event, Benjamin
Alvarado from Santiago, Chile. Alvarado shot a 67 for five-under 208 to
take a two-shot lead over Hyedong Kim from Seoul, Korea and first-round
leader Ryan Cairns (Harare, Zimbabwe) into the final round.
Pablo Martin, winner of the British boys open championship in 2001, and
his Spanish colleague, Fernando Garcia, are alongside Richardson on the

Michael Skelton (Redcar), the other lad nominated by the English Golf
Union for the Florida trip, is back in joint 20th place on 218 after a
72.
Steve Benson from Surrey, an independent entry, had a 76 for 231.
