INVERNESS GIRL WINS GTV TITLE
INVERNESS
teenager Kerri Harper (right) did not have far to travel on Sunday to
win the Grampian Television girls' golf championship which was played
at the Loch Ness golf course, Castle Heather in her home city.
Kerri, an eight-handicap member at Inverness Golf Club at Culcabok where
she has been women's champion for the past two years, won the GTV title
on a card countback with Sara Thomson (Murcar) after they had both returned
a score of 89 in cool, windy conditions over a tough, par-75 women's circuit
(5,741yd).
Kerri's inward half of 44, despite bogeys at the 16th and 17th, pipped
Sara's 45 for the second nine.
There was a triple tie for the third scratch prize between Roseanne Niven
(Crieff), Katie Thomson (Kintore) and Sjavon Wilson (Murcar). Roseanne
won that tie-breaker with the best inward half: 42 to Sjavon's 44 and
Katie's 46.
Karen Murray (Alford) won the leading handicap award with a net 73 off
28.
