HEATHER JOINT SEVENTH AT HALFWAY

SCOTTISH champion Heather Stirling maintained a top 10 placing at the halfway stage of the European women's amateur golf championship at Kristianstad, Sweden on Thursday).
The 25-year-old Bridge of Allan player repeated her opening day score of 73 for a two-over-par tally of 146 to be in joint seventh place behind the clear leader, Dewi-Claire Schreefel from the Netherlands who has had a 69 and 70 for five-underpar 139.
Becky Brewerton from Wales is the leading GB&I player after a 70 for one-under 143 lifted her up into a tie for third place, strengthening the view that her non-selection for the Curtis Cup match was a nonsensical decision.
Kerry Smith, England's top performer in the home internationals, had a 72 to be alonogside Heather Stirling on the 146 mark.
The other Scots in the field of 105 did not do so well. Lynn Kenny (Stirling University and Dunblane) had a 78 for 13-over 157 to be in joint 66th place while Linzi Morton (Tulliallan) had an 83 for 19-over 163. She is in tied for 92nd place.
