Scots U-21 squad for Moscow

THE Scotland squad of six players for the European Under-21 women's golf team championship at Moscow City Golf Club, Russia from July 9 to 13 is divided equally between home-based Scots and those who attend colleges in the United States for the best part of nine months of the year.

Vikki Laing (California)and Susannah Laing (San Francisco) are ranked within the top 75 players on the American female college circuits but Louise Kenney (Iowa State), a former Scottish girls champion, is rated outside the leading 300.

one of the American college students in the Scottish team

Clare Queen,
current British Girls' champion
and a student at the
University of Strathclyde

Completing the squad are Clare Queen (Drumpellier), an automatic choice after winning both the British girls' match-play and stroke-play titles and then retaining the Lanarkshire women's county championship this season, and Pam Feggans (Barassie) and Jenna Wilson (Strathaven) whose performances in reaching the match-play stages of the Scottish women's championship at Stranraer last week played a big part in gaining them selection.

In fact, it is probably true to say that 17-year-old Miss Wilson was not even on the short leet until she was the No 2 qualifier at Stranraer and then went on to reach the quarter-finals.

Team to travel is:
PAMELA FEGGANS (Barassie). Aged 19.
LOUISE KENNEY (Pitreavie). Aged 19.
SUSANNAH LAING (Troon Ladies). Aged 21.
VIKKI LAING (Musselburgh). Aged 21.
CLARE QUEEN (Drumpellier). Age 19.
JENNA WILSON (Strathaven). Age 17.

Non-playing captain:
FIONA DE VRIES (St Rule).

Reserves:

1 L Devenish (Cruden Bay)
2 H MacRae (Dunblane)
3 E Cuthill (Lanark)
4 L Walker (Nairn Dunbar).
