KIRSTY AND REBECCA IN LPGA QUALIFYING FIELD

Kirsty FisherEngland international Kirsty Fisher (pictured right) has joined her close friend Rebecca Hudson in the field for the LPGA Section Qualifying Tournament at Landmark Golf Club, Indio in California.
The tournament started on Tuesday and will run for four days.
Former Welsh champion Eleanor Pilgrim, who was bitterly disappointed not to finish her amateur career as a Curtis Cup player, is also in the field.
The Green and the Red Courses - conservative names by anyone's standards, let alone America - are being used and also two tee starts at both venues. That will enable the organisers to get a big field round quickly.
This, of course, is only the start of the qualifying trail for Rebecca and Kirsty, whose father was born in Edinburgh and played rugby for Scotland.
Only a small percentage will go through to the Final Qualifying at Daytona Beach, Florida in mid-October and only a small percentage of that field will gain full players' cards for the 2003 LPGA Tour ... but its total prize money, well over 30,000,000 dollars is probably more than the prizefunds of every other women's pro circuit in the world added together.
The United States is the place to be if you have any ambition as a female professional golfer.
